Blacklock Media Produces 26 Films for the 2024 National NAIDOC Awards

Blacklock Media is proud to have produced 26 finalist films for the National NAIDOC Awards, alongside the official Welcome to Country film for the national awards ceremony.

As an Aboriginal-owned video production company based in Western Sydney, Blacklock Media travelled across Australia over six weeks to film Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, artists, athletes, educators, innovators, and community leaders whose work continues to make a major impact across the country.

The production involved filming across metropolitan, regional, remote, and Torres Strait locations including Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, Daly River, Thursday Island, and Erub Island in the eastern Torres Strait.

The project required six weeks of continuous travel, filming six days a week under strict national delivery deadlines. Managing flights, freight, accommodation, cultural consultation, interview scheduling, data management, and post-production workflows across multiple states and remote communities was a major logistical undertaking for the Blacklock Media team.

Despite the scale of the production, every finalist film and the Welcome to Country production were delivered on time for the national event.

The project highlights Blacklock Media’s experience in:

  • Aboriginal video production

  • Indigenous video production

  • First Nations storytelling

  • Documentary filmmaking

  • Cultural storytelling
